God Bless America

Repost from @gigofund

Today is September 11, the anniversary of the worst attack on American soil. Many have posted today about how terrible this event was 19 years ago, and how we will never forget those we lost. But this day in history was so much more than a tragedy. It was a call to action for so many brave men and women to volunteer themselves and risk their lives in service to our country. It was a turning point in our consciousness about the fragility of our nation’s safety and security. It was the defining moment of this century.
.
It is also the day that we continuously have in our minds as an organization, working to support the men and women who were willing to sacrifice everything to defend us. This is particularly true during our annual Navy SEAL Hudson River Swim, which was held this past August 8th. Former Navy SEALs, veterans, and first responders remembered and honored the people lost on September 11, 2001 and the wars that followed with a swim across the river from the Empty Sky Memorial to the 9/11 Memorial in New York City.
.
We have not forgotten 9/11, nor the men and women who put their lives on the line to keep us safe since. And we never will.
